Tesla Model Y Ceramic Coating in Vancouver Island — Full Paint & Glass Protection
Professional ceramic coating for Tesla Model Y, including full exterior and glass protection. Step-by-step surface prep, polishing, and double-layer application using GYEON Pure EVO.
REAL DETAILING JOBS – BEFORE & AFTER
We recently completed a full ceramic coating service for a Tesla Model Y on Vancouver Island, covering both the paint and the glass surfaces.
This article outlines our step-by-step approach using professional-grade products, including GYEON Q² Pure EVO and GYEON Q² View EVO, to ensure lasting protection and a deep, glossy finish. From surface preparation to the final layer, here’s how we do it.
Step 1: Interior First, While Paint Cools
We began by setting up a canopy over the vehicle to shield it from direct sunlight. While the paint cooled down, we completed a full interior detailing — an efficient use of time and a necessary preparation before working on the exterior.
Step 2: Pre-Wash & Surface Decontamination
We performed an initial rinse with a high-pressure washer to remove dust, sand, and loose dirt from all exterior surfaces and crevices.
Next came a thorough hand wash using a pH-neutral, wax-free shampoo and a foam cannon to ensure no oils or residues remained that could interfere with coating adhesion. We repeated the rinse twice.
We then used:
Bug & tree sap remover
Iron remover
Tar remover
After each step, we rinsed the surface thoroughly. Finally, we used a clay bar on the lower panels to ensure complete smoothness.
Step 3: Light Paint Correction
Though the vehicle was only 6 months old, it had already collected light swirl marks.
We performed spot polishing in 5–6 areas using a light compound and soft pad — a complimentary refinement done as a goodwill bonus to ensure the coating adhered to a clean and uniform surface.
Step 4: Panel Wipe & Primer Application
We applied GYEON Q²M Primer — a dedicated base layer that enhances bonding and adds clarity. The surface was wiped twice with panel wipe beforehand to ensure perfect adhesion. The primer was allowed to cure for 2–3 hours in a controlled garage environment, away from humidity and direct light.
Step 5: Glass & Panoramic Roof Polishing
While the primer was curing, we focused on the panoramic roof, front, rear, and side windows.
There were circular water spots — known as mineral etching — especially visible on the roof. We polished the glass to eliminate these marks before sealing.
This step wasn’t pre-discussed with the client, but we felt it was necessary and provided it as a complimentary bonus.
Step 6: Ceramic Coating – Double Layer
We applied GYEON Q² Pure EVO using an applicator block.
After 5 minutes of curing, we removed excess using one microfiber towel, and then buffed the surface with a second.
This process was repeated across all panels — twice — to ensure maximum coverage and a deep, even gloss.
Because we worked indoors under stable humidity and temperature, we were able to apply the second layer after 1 hour, before full curing began. This method allows both layers to chemically bond and form a unified, thicker protective shell.
Step 7: Final Layer – TopCoat Next Day
Roughly 14 hours later, we returned to apply GYEON Q²M Cure — a hydrophobic top layer included in the kit.
The car remained in the garage for a full 24 hours after this step, allowing proper curing without UV exposure or moisture.
Result: A Richer, Deeper Finish for a Dark Vehicle
This ceramic system is particularly well-suited for dark vehicles.
After full application, the paint appeared noticeably richer and more reflective — which became especially apparent when we returned to apply the final layer.
We always aim for long-term results and take every step seriously.
Thank you to our client for trusting us with their vehicle.
